The 18th edition of the AEHT’s Christmas in Europe was organised for the second time, from December 3rd to December 8th in Poznan by the Higher Institute for Hospitality and Gastronomy (WYZZSZA SZKOLA HOTELARTSWA I GASTRONOMII), a school with a prestigious reputation in Poland.
This event is by now well-established in the AEHT’s yearly calendar, bringing together delegations from 24 hotel and tourism schools. Overall, the event conformed to the required criteria – an exhibition of Christmas traditions, an inaugural parade, a European buffet, and a cultural programme.
These are the 24 schools which took part this year:
Diekirch - Luxembourg
Ukraine
Ponta Delgada - Portugal
Kazakhstan
Oleszyce - Poland
St Petersburg - Russia
Budapest - Hungary
Stonie Slaskie - Poland
Espoon Kaupunki - Finland
Tirana - Albania
Warszawa - Poland,
Marseilles - France,
Kuressaare - Estonia
Orebro - Sweden
Podebrady - Czech Republic
Poznan - Poland
Semmering - Austria
Göra Kalwaria – Poland
Belarus
Peru
Przysucha – Poland
Pinerolo – Italy
Vilnius – Lithuania
Bonneville – France
The delegations arrived in quick succession, by train, by minibus or by air, to be warmly greeted by the students from the host school. Two Poznan students were assigned to each delegation to deal with any problems that might arise during their stay. And on that same evening of December 3rd there was a happy hubbub in the school restaurant as this system got under way.
On the following day, December 4th, as usual the delegations took possession of their respective exhibition stands and began to set them up, making it their job to decorate them to the best of their ability using whatever was provided and whatever they had brought with them. And as every year, this was a moment for sharing and comparing, punctuated with laughing, joking and pooling of resources. Towards midday the schools large lecture hall was almost ready for the inauguration ceremony scheduled for 16.00.
The stands are set up amid fun and laughter
