The 7th Bartending competition for G&T Cup took place in Bled on Thursday, 12th April, and it was organized by The Vocational College for Catering and Tourism Bled.

The competition was once again attended by a number of young bartenders from five European countries: Slovenia (8), Croatia (1), Czech Republic (5), Slovakia (6) and Malta (1).
Like every year, the competition was held under the supervision of AEHT (European Association of Hotel and Tourism Schools), which gave a special touch to this sort of competition.
The students of the final year of The Vocational College for Catering and Tourism Bled organized the competition under the supervision of Mr Peter Mihelčič. They took care of the competition part as well as of the preparation and serving food and drinks. The competition was divided into three parts:
- the competitors first had a written test to check their theoretical knowledge of different drinks;
- Next was the test of pouring beer where judges evaluated timing and skills.
- At 2 pm it was time for the main part of the event – mixing drinks, which also took place at Hotel Krim Bled.
Participants already had their recipes for long drink prepared, which should have included white rum Bacardi and Fructal juices which were the sponsors of the competition; the rest was left to competitors’ imagination. The competitors were monitored and evaluated by the established members of The Slovenian Bartending Association.
Each part was scored separately, but the last part was the most important in the overall standings.
Adam Glemba was awarded the first prize, Barbara Letonja was the second and the third place was taken by Katarína Emíli Žuchova.
We knew from the beginning that we would see a lot of talented competitors, so therefore we also decided to give awards for the best decoration which was assigned to Matjaž Drole, the best technical work was shown by Katarína Emíli Žuchova, and the prize for the best served beer was earned by Daniel Calta. In addition to that, we also awarded the best school (Podebrady, Czech Republic)
The main sponsors of the event were companies Bacardi and Fructal, but many others also contributed to the competition.
The head of the competition was Špela Triller, the animation was provided by Nika Vidmar, Barbara Janc was responsible for the catering and Manuel Majeric took care of the selection and food preparation.
The main aim of the project was to provide an opportunity for young barmen to show their skills in mixing drinks, meeting new people at the same time, and expand their circle of acquaintances and enjoy the beauties of Slovenia.
