EUROPEAN BUFFETS: TWO ENJOYABLE EVENINGS

The evenings of December 4th and 5th were devoted to two versions of the European buffets, in accordance with an unchanging tradition in which each delegation offers the guests warm or cold specialities, prepared in the school kitchens and then presented and served on the two evenings. The first evening was compered by the DJ Ex da Bass and by Einars Latisevs who were on top form – a euphemism – while on the following evening there was a much softer atmosphere with the Maple Syrups.

On the first evening the starting whistle was blown by Sebastiano Fulci, Italian ambassador to Latvia, who also made a point of greeting the Italian delegations present and of thanking the organisers of this buffet which was highly interesting from everypoint of view and very much in the European spirit!

AEHT General Secretary Nadine Schintgen spoke in the same vein while urging those present to hold hands for a moment to form a long chain of friendship.

In the same vein, the second evening was just as animated and convivial, this time with a speech from Bart Claes from the Erasmus Programme who, just like Veroniia Martyniuk from the Regional Education Centre in Chernivtsi Oblast in Ukraine, highlypraised the European spirit pervading Christmas in Europe.

In summary, two highly enjoyable evenings which once again allowed all the participants to appreciate the culinary diversity of the countries of Europe through the specialities prepared and presented for delectation by the different delegations.
