The gala evening is and stays a very important moment in the programme of Christmas in Europe. On the one hand, it brings all of the participants together for a great moment of feasting and on the other hand, it marks the end with the departure of the delegations towards their hometown in every corner of Europe the following day.
At the LTH in Diekirch, the organizers had done things well: an aperitif served in one of the rooms followed by the meal in the magnificently decorated dining room.
All the ingredients for a beautiful evening were in position. With interludes by the singing group " Lidderuucht Lëtzebuerg " who performed in extremely beautiful period costumes. And a festive menu, with every dish being announced by two pupils! The meal was chaired by Mrs Elisabeth Reisen, head mistress, and Mrs Mia Aouadi, deputy head mistress, who had Mr René Federspiel, chief police commissioner of Diekirch in their midst.
The cooking and service brigade of the LTH, who had been working hard all evening, came to their honours at for the appeal of Nadine Schintgen general secretary of the AEHT, who was the presenter throughout the evening, by inviting the dinner guests to give a standing ovation to the chefs!
A little later, came the moment to distribute the presents, in particular to Elisabeth Reisen and Jean-Marc Dijou, the mastermind behind the organization of this festive event, and for every delegation to be given their certificate of participation. Several speakers paid a glowing tribute to all the actors of the success of Christmas in Europe before the surprise, the arrival of the dessert, a huge Christmas log cake of 3,50 meters made by the team of Ronny Thill’s pastry cooks.
Final act, the symbolic passage of the flag of the AEHT from Diekirch to San Benedetto del Tronto under the applause of the assistance with in the background the European hymn.
The 24th edition of Christmas in Europe is over. Long live the 25th edition in December 2016.
