CULTURAL EVENING
One of the three elements or columns (exhibition, European buffet and culture) was precisely the so-called cultural evening, during which each school has to perform either a song or a sketch or a short play on the theme of Christmas. While some of them produced excellent performances on the subject, other performances were less good and totally off-topic. But this did not really detract from the overall appreciation of the event, which was applauded more or less loudly according to the performance by an audience that was good-natured and well-behaved.
But before giving the floor to the schools, the organisers had invited along the Zaborski Folk Group from the village of Zupcany to give an illustration of the customs of the olden days in their region. It was a highly colourful performance, with dances and an evocation of a Christmas Eve which was warmly applauded by the audience. And then came the schools’ performances one after the other.
It was almost midnight when the highly varied show ended in the beautiful SOS Technika hall, and for once the sound and video equipment worked almost perfectly, Mr Larsen was not requested to attend one single time!
