As you would expect, the Conference programme also included a whole series of excursions and visits in and around Cervia so that the participants could also have an idea of the treasures of the city and its environs.
There was a guided tour of Cervia, an excursion to the Cervia salt works, a visit to the Malatestiana Library in Cesena, a visit to the Butterfly House and a guided tour of Ravenna. What is more, some of the visits were organised in collaboration with the schools in Ferrara, Riccione, Forlimpopoli, Riolo Terme and Castel San Pietro.
NB: your journalist does not (yet) enjoy the gift of being everywhere at once, so was not able to take part in all the excursions, a fact he regrets each year!
Ravenna is ‘2015 capital of culture’ and has a wealth of treasures of every kind, including the ubiquitous mosaics, especially in the basilicas as well as in the mausoleum of Galla Placidia.
In Cervia
Along the sea front and hidden from public view unless you pay the entrance fee, on the beach there is an exhibition of sand statues. Thanks to a little subterfuge, here are some snaps of them!
